Nature's Edge Therapy Center, Inc. is now offering:

"Youth of Promise"

Nature’s Edge Therapy Center Inc. is offering a “Youth of Promise” program for ten weeks this summer.  The program will run Mondays and Fridays, June 16 through August 18.  We are looking for participants between the ages of 12 to 18 that may have various difficulties.  Those difficulties might include poor grades, depression, alcohol and/or drug abuse, frequent outburst of anger, inappropriate behavior, family conflicts, or difficulty with social interactions.  The youth will work very close with well trained staff and volunteers in small groups on several different projects.  The projects include arts & crafts, woodworking, horticulture & landscaping, small animal grooming/training, and large animal grooming/training.  On the evening of April 23 from 4 to 7p.m. an open house will be held for the community to come and view some of the past projects that have been completed, and some the future activities in the program.  This program provides an opportunity for the youths to learn responsibility, socialization skills, and leadership skills with a motivational and natural environment.  The program is offered to the surrounding areas, in corporation with local schools and businesses.  The program is a small cost of $200, but if funding is unavailable scholarships are available based on financial eligibility.  The program ends with a trip to Valley Fair which is included with the $200 fee.

Who: Youth, ages 12-18, who are interested in a rewarding and fulfilling summer experience! Adult volunteers are needed for leadership positions.

Registration is on Wed., April 23th, 2008 4 - 7pm


 

What: A summer long program that allows area youth to participate in:

*Large and small animal grooming and training (this does not include horseback riding)
*Woodworking (construction and maintenance included)
*Arts & Crafts
*Horticulture & Landscaping
 

When: June 16, 2008 to August 18,, 2008  9 weeks of fun, Mondays and Fridays * 9am to 4pm $200.00 for an entire program all summer! You are still welcome if you cannot make all sessions. There are no refunds once registered.  Please bring your own lunch. Included in the camp fee is a trip to Valley Fair which will take place August 4, 2008.

Where: Nature's Edge Therapy Center, Inc., which is located 5 miles East of Cameron, just 1 mile off of County Road M.

Why: Throughout the summer we will be focusing on improving essential team interactive skills by providing a variety of activities.  This program also gives the youth of our community a chance to increase self-esteem, establish a sense of belonging, achieve feelings of accomplishment, and become active, productive members of their community.
