EQUINE SPECIALIST

We have an immediate opening for an Equine Specialist at our center.
Full-time (40 hours per week), M-F, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Salary $9-$10 per hour depending on qualifications and experience
Benefits available after 90 days

Qualifications

Must be a NARHA-certified therapeutic riding instructor. If not NARHA-certified at the time of employment, must complete NARHA certification within one year from date of hire.

Knowledge and experience in the following areas:

          Horse training/schooling
          Equine nutrition and health
          Equine safety skills
          General emergency animal care

Excellent communication skills with people and animals

Willingness to work with people with disabilities (primarily children) and volunteers
Flexibility to adjust schedule and assist in other disciplines as needed
Excellent management skills

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Equine care/feeding/health (evaluating and treating)
Maintaining equine training and schooling schedule
Assisting in equine therapy sessions with patients
Equine handling/safety
Selection of equines for therapy programs
General care and maintenance of ALL our animals, including cow, llamas, goat, pigs, dogs, cats, birds, rabbits
Barn and equipment maintenance and cleaning/organization
Grounds maintenance and repair (fencing, signs, trail, arenas)
Basic office procedures/computer skills
Assisting with fundraising
